Santiago Durazzo

Founder | Lead Editor & Declaration Writer

Born and raised in Mexico City, he began his career as an English teacher and translator. While completing his bachelor’s degree in Psychology, his work took him to Chiapas, where he collaborated with law students to interview Central American immigrants and translate their accounts of migration and mistreatment.

That experience eventually led to a collaboration with Texas immigration attorney Alexander Reyer, who invited Santiago to begin preparing personal declarations for his clients. Eleven years later, Santiago has worked with immigrants and legal professionals across the United States, developing an interviewing and writing style grounded in careful listening, emotional sensitivity, and close attention to the details that make every person’s story unique.

Santiago is currently pursuing a doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Roosevelt University. His continued education has deepened the perspective he brings to conversations involving painful memories and complicated life experiences, while his years as a bilingual interviewer allow him to move naturally between English and Spanish without losing the client’s individual voice.

As the founder and lead editor of Durazzo Declarations LLC, Santiago now guides a growing multilingual team. He personally selects and coaches each declaration writer and serves as the final set of eyes on the team’s work, ensuring that each interview is conducted with humanity and compassion, as well as in a structured manner, and that every declaration reflects the care and professionalism associated with Durazzo Declarations.

Mehak Malik

Declaration Writer

Based in India, she is currently studying at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and holds a master’s degree in International Taxation from NALSAR University of Law.

Before joining Durazzo Declarations, Mehak worked remotely with a U.S. immigration law office, where she assisted with client declarations, petitions, formal correspondence, and matters involving Forms I-589 and I-360. She also worked regularly with Indian clients on their personal statements and supporting documentation, giving her experience navigating both the legal and personal aspects of these cases.

Fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, Mehak can conduct interviews in all three languages. She is attentive to the ways language and cultural background shape how clients describe their experiences, and she approaches sensitive conversations with patience, respect, and genuine curiosity.

At Durazzo Declarations, Mehak works closely with Santiago to prepare clear, detailed declarations that preserve each client’s individual voice. Her initiative, thoughtful interviewing style, and disciplined approach to writing make her an important part of the growing team.
